Perhaps the most exciting prospect on Wrexham’s playing staff, Cieslewicz has all the attributes required to terrorise defences and has shown flashes of fulfilling his potential for the first team.

Despite his name Cieslewicz is actually from the Faroe Islands! His Polish father moved to the islands to play and stayed on, but Adrian moved to England when he was sixteen to sign for Manchester City.

A regular member of City’s Under-18 side, the pacy striker who can also play out wide was signed by Dean Saunders in June 2009. He immediately excited Wrexham fans in pre-season friendlies with his technique, ability to spot movement ahead of him and, most notably, his devastating speed. Anyone who saw him win a penalty on his debut against Eastbourne despite the opposing left back being given a ten yard head start over him will know testify to that!

However, he was unable to build upon that promising start, and spent the season in and out of the side, occasionally making an impact as a substitute.

The following campaign followed a similar pattern. Cieslewicz continued to offer tantalising glimpses of his potential, but his first team chances were limited. Perhaps most interestingly, Saunders used him in a new role, as the attacking point of a diamond, in friendlies and a couple of meaningless first team games, and the youngster seemed to adapt to its demands well. He managed his first senior goal, at Hayes and Yeading, and ended the season with by far his best performance so far, striking fear into Luton’s defence in the second leg of the play-off semi-final as he tore down the right flank.

With age still on his side-he only celebrated his twentieth birthday a fortnight before the start of the 2011-12 season-he began the season in bright form, enjoying his longest sustained run in the first team squad. Indeed, he set a rather odd club record when he came on as a sub in each of the first ten games of the season!
