There has never been a 0-0 between the sides at The Racecourse.
The
smallest crowd to watch this fixture, 667, turned up at The
Racecourse for a Welsh Cup tie and were treated to Wrexham's best win
over Southport, a 9-0 win.
The sides have regularly played
back-to-back fixtures over the Christmas period when they were both
in the Third Division North, the most dramatic pair of fixtures
coming in 1927. On Boxing Day Wrexham lost 4-1 at Southport, but the
next day they got their revenge, winning 3-1 at The Racecourse.
In
April 1933 Wrexham and Southport played each other three times in the
space of eight days, two Welsh Cup semi-final matches taking place
either side of a Third Division North fixture.
